The municipal website of Mérida informed today about the renewing of the ‘NeuroRedes’ (NeuroNetworks) programme at the “Esteban Sánchez” Professional Conservatory of Music for its fifth edition. This initiative, which offers people with disabilities to experience the benefits of music therapy, is organized in conjunction with the Municipal Departments of Education and Functional Diversity.

The Conservatory wants once again to demonstrate its commitment to granting access to people from all walks of life, including those who have special needs. The focus of the programme in question is the holistic development of people through music.
The course will be taught by Professor Silvia Núñez using the innovative “Sinudi Methodology”. Music, in this case, is used as means for rehabilitating and stimulating neuronal development, which in turn facilitates the physical, mental and emotional improvement of patients.
It is expected that “NeuroRedes” can be a gateway towards the adaptation of students with functional diversity in the environment of the Conservatory and as a consequence might open up the way for enrollment in formal courses of the institution.
The power of music has been proven to have therapeutic and healing qualities and its potential is such that it can benefit everyone transgressing socio-economic, intellectual or emotional barriers.
30 sessions will be held once a week on Wednesday evenings between 19:30 and 20:30. Since attendance in the classes is limited to 12 places, candidates are advised to go and pick up the pre-registration forms at the Secretariat Office of the Conservatory between 26 and 29 October.
Once the forms have been filled, they can be submitted for enrollment at the same place on 2-3 November. The Secretariat’s working hours are from 11:00 till 14:00.
The course is free of charge (save for a 10-euro scholar insurance fee) and is open for people over the age of 7.
