Bialystok will soon boast its own “Copernicus Science Centre”. Albeit smaller than the one in Warsaw, the new Epi-Centre of Science in Bialystok ranks first in Eastern Poland. To celebrate its opening to the public, the Municipality invites visitors to an open day with free museum access this Saturday.
Science made fun with EU support
Epi-Centrum Nauki, as it is originally named, consists of two separate zones. The first is the Little Explorers’ Zone – a colourful educational space with an area of almost 600 m2. This zone is intended primarily for children between the ages of 3 and 10.
It has five thematic areas: Learning and knowledge, Knowing your body, Technology, Building world, Water energy and the Little Explorer’s Laboratory (LABBAR). All games and experiences are adapted to children’s sensibilities, and thus they allow the little ones to explore the world of science.
The second zone is the Main Exhibition – a universal cognitive space in which everyone, regardless of age, will find something of interest. The Main Exhibition covers an area of 2670 square metres with almost 100 experimental stations.
There are no established routes to follow, so everyone can decide for themselves which path and at what pace to move. The Main Exhibition covers several thematic areas, including optics, transport, telecommunications, medicine, automation, robotics and mechanics.

In order to allow the wide public to get to know this unique place, the Municipality of Bialystok has arranged an open day this Saturday, 29 August, with free access. However, in order to meet all safety precautions related to Covid-19, access will be granted only after preliminary registration at epi-centrum.bialystok.pl/en starting today.
Epi-Centrum Nauki was established as part of an EU co-funded project. The total value of the project is PLN 25.4 million (around 5.8 million euros), with the subsidy from the Regional Operational Program totalling PLN 17.4 million.
