For the year 2021, the Capital City of the Slovak Republic, Bratislava, has announced a call for the Strategic Support for Cultural Events grant program, through which it will support established cultural events. The Bratislava City Foundation, which publishes a schedule of calls for 2021 has also announced that it will continue to support the city’s culture and communities.
Taking care of culture when it needs it the most
The Strategic Support for Cultural Events grant programme is intended for established events held in the capital – festivals, shows, etc., which form an integral part of the city’s cultural offer. At the same time, these are events that are accessible to the general public and have the potential to become part of Bratislava’s identity. Events must function stably and be implemented for at least 3 years and last at least 2 days. Applications can be submitted until January 25, 2021. The capital’s government has allocated 130,000 euros to support the programme.
“We are aware that the uncertainty associated with a pandemic and the restrictions it brings can be expected in 2021 as well. However, we consider it important to contribute systematic support to the sustainability of cooperation between creative and production teams, which have experience and know-how in a pandemic that is significantly affected by the implementation of cultural events,” said Zuzana Ivašková, Head of Culture and Administrator of the Bratislava City Foundation.
The selection of winning projects will continue in two rounds next year. In the first round, the peer reviewers will assess each project in terms of content on the basis of the evaluation criteria published in the grant call of the program. All projects that advance to the second round will be presented to a grant committee in front of the general public at the beginning of March 2021. The winning projects that have then been chosen by the committee will be voted on and approved by the city council in March.
