A free urban network for connected devices (a smart city) will be created by the local Zaralab association in Stara Zagora. At their last session the municipal councilors have decided to co-finance the project.
The main objective of the project is to build a free urban network for connected devices in Stara Zagora. The network is based on Lora WAN, a protocol used by The Things Network to help connect virtually unlimited smart devices.
The antennas used for this technology have a very wide range, which can reach over 20 km under excellent conditions. This networking will initiate an application development processes that can be used by any smart device through the network that is the subject of this project. The Lora WAN uses radio frequencies that are not a subject to regulation which makes the network completely free of charge for everyone.
The total cost of the project is 8930 BGN. The requested financial support from the municipality of Stara Zagora is 4220 BGN, which is 47.3% of the total value of the project. The rest of the amount is provided by the association's own funds.
The project is supported by Bulsatcom, which will provide suitable locations for the concentrators, which will be connected to the Internet and power supply. The duration of the project is 3 months from the date of signing the co-financing agreement.
The municipal councilors have made a decision to co-finance the project of ZARALAB with the amount of 4,220 BGN.
The local elders also have included a new clause stating that the Municipality will have a free access to the free urban network for connected devices in Stara Zagora.
