Slivnitsa – The Fast-Growing Municipality

Slivnitsa Municipality is located in the central western part of Bulgaria. Two protected areas -Aldomirovtsi Marsh and The Hill are registered as part of its territory.

The history of Slivnitsa Municipality goes back millennia, proof of which are: The Thracian Sanctuary of Asclepius Limenos,Via Diagonalis Roman Road in the Peklyuk area,Meldia Roman Road Station,the Serbo-Bulgarian war,the stone fountain in Bahalin village,the healing springs above Bratushkovo village,the First Soldiers’ Monument in Bulgaria near Aldomirovtsi village in the Mramor area.

Eco trails in the outskirts of Aldomirovtsi village were established, as well as the following routes: Gurgulyat-Gulubovtsi-Bratushkovo, Voinishka Pamet Eco Trail; The Heroes of Slivnitsa Bicycle Lane with a total length of 1,765 meters.

The combination of historical heritage and beautiful scenery, good food and specific folk culture creates serious potential for attracting tourists in Slivnitsa Municipality, especially for day-trips and trips with one or two overnights in guesthouses.

Through Slivnitsa Municipality pass major roads and energy and telecommunication systems. The transport system plays vital communication role in the building of economic relations with municipalities in Southwestern Bulgaria, as well as with the whole country and Europe.

The proximity to Sofia and the investment opportunities in the western part of the town, where the municipality has an area of 450 acres with built facility infrastructure,offers apossibility for construction of an industrial zone. 15 properties have already been sold to investors.

Arena Slivnitsa Multipurpose Sports Hall was built-in Slivnitsa town. It has 1,200 seats and 147 parking spaces, 14 of which for disabled people. 12 types of sports are practiced in the Hall. In the winter months, residents and visitors of Slivnitsa Municipality can exercise on the ice rink.

Sts. Cyril and Methodius Highscool is the first school in the European Union to introduce Chess in the school programme.

A relaxation and entertainment site in Bratushkovo village is an offroad track for riding all terrain vehicles /ATV/, its length is 3,000 m.

For second consecutive year, Slivnitsa Municipality has welcomed guests for The White Cheese Festival which aims to promote Bulgarian production and in particular – dairy products.

The European Festival of Travelling Theatre has taken place for two years now in October. Within a week, elite theatre companies and productions from Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Turkey, Serbia, and other countries receive the love of the audience. The festival is held under the patronage of the Mayor of Slivnitsa Municipality Mr. Vasko Stoilkov.
