ARENA2036 is the largest and the leading research platform for mobility in Germany. As part of University of Stuttgart campus, ARENA2036 provides an attractive and exemplary working and research environment. The aim is to lay the foundations for a fundamental change in automotive production by 2036 – the 150th anniversary of the motor car. This innovative approach allows for a consolidation of the existing competencies in the Stuttgart region regarding lightweight design and production.
ARENA2036 is supported by the initiative “Research Campus – Public-Private Partnership for Innovation” by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and supervised by the lead partner Karlsruhe (PTKA). The building of the new research factory itself was additionally supported with resources from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). In the long term, ARENA2036 thus contributes to strengthening Baden-Württemberg’s world leading position in the automotive industry. This requires not only a close-knit link between science and industry but also between lightweight design research and production technologies. Such an endeavor is exclusively practicable on a research campus.
