The Polish Tourist Organisation announced a nation-wide measure to support both the tourist sector and Polish families, in the difficult economic context of the coronavirus pandemic. Each family with a child under 18 years old or a child with a disability can claim a voucher of 500 zloty (111 euros). The amount can be spent on hotel services or tourist events carried out by an entrepreneur or public organization throughout the country.
Who is entitled to free tourist services in Poland?
Nearly 6.5 million Polish children, including children of parents working abroad, will be able to use the tourist voucher, informs the Polish Tourist Organisation. Vouchers will be awarded regardless of income level and in the case of a disabled child, the caretaker will also receive an additional PLN 500 to spend, hence they will receive vouchers with a total value of PLN 1,000.
It is possible to use the voucher for payments for tourist services on the territory of the Republic of Poland for the child for whom the voucher has been granted. PTO will soon publish a list of establishments where the vouchers will be accepted.
A tourist event should be understood as a combination of at least two different types of tourist services for the same trip or vacation. This means that children camps – scouts, sports and recreation are also covered by this new initiative.
The vouchers can be used in several instances until the value of 500 zlotys is spent or until the voucher expires on March 31, 2022. They can be claimed using the PUE ZUS system. After the respective process of authorisation and validation of the identity of the requestor succeeds, the voucher, in the form of a unique 16-digit number, will be forwarded to the phone number or email address provided.
The vouchers are not yet activated, as the measure has not been formally approved yet. Further information will be published on the website of the Public Information Bulletin of the Ministry of Economic Development.
