Registration is now open for the 18th European Week of Regions and Cities, the biggest annual event dedicated to regional policy, based in Brussels. This year, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the event will be held entirely online for the first time.
500 opportunities to discuss local and regional policies
The coronavirus pandemic created numerous challenges to the ways we do business and interact with each other. However, it also gave us the chance to reinvent ourselves, and this is exactly what #EURegionsWeek organisers will be doing in 2020.
For the first time in 18 editions, the landmark event will be gathering thousands of political representatives and decision-makers, experts, practitioners and stakeholders in front of the screens, instead of the EU premises in Brussels. Even more, but the programme will extend to 3 weeks instead of one, as has been the case in the previous editions.
Over 500 digital working sessions will take place between 5-22 October covering various topics along with this year’s thematic priorities: Empowering Citizens; Cohesion and Cooperation; and Green Europe. The key sessions – Political Opening, Political Closing, Citizens dialogues and High-level debates will be broadcasted live, while the exhibitions will become virtual and interactive. Finally, EURegionstalks will be organised either as a virtual session or will be pre-recorded and accessible online.
The 2019 Edition’s success was the most successful ever – it gathered no less than 9300 participants, over 400 partners and more than 1300 speakers in 333 sessions. Although this year we will not be able to have a drink and bite at the delightful regional tastings, #EURegionsWeek is bound to surprise us in other pleasant ways, as it always does.
