The small train which leads tourists and city-lovers on a journey of discovering monuments, beautiful spots and signature places of the Italian city of Parma has finally returned – in a truly sustainable fashion, powered entirely by electricity.
A significant contribution to Parma’s tourist offer
The City Red Bus company provides a tourist offer with departures scheduled every 40 minutes from Piazza Garibaldi on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Service hours range between 10:30-12:30 and 15:00-18:30. City Red Bus staff managing the trips will consist of a driver and a hostess in charge of ticket sales.
Tickets can be purchased from the on-board staff and at the Tourist Office at a price of 6 euros for adults and 3 euros for children between 0-5 years of age. The trips are also free for persons with disabilities.
There are also two alternative route proposals (BLUE and YELLOW) each lasting around 30-35 minutes. They will be alternated according to the requests of passengers, and are designed “as pleasant entertainment for families, in order to allow citizens and tourists to easily see, in a few minutes, the nerve centres of the city and its main monuments, with the aim of traversing as many of the historic centre’s streets as possible, in order to obtain the greatest possible visibility for the commercial activities along the route”.
The President of City Red Bus Paolo Bonferroni also revealed that over the Christmas period last year they had more than 5,000 visitors, a sign that the service was very much appreciated. Then, following the lockdown the situation changed completely.
The company is working alongside the Municipality of Parma to combine the tour with the train with other tourist proposals, for example, with a guided trip. They are also coordinating with local schools on how to insert the tour into the educational visits to the city.
