The local authorities in the second largest city of Greece Thessaloniki announced that they had finally found the Santa whom they had been looking for.
Following many weeks of auditions, rehearsals, interviews and Christmassy-type investigations, the Municipality has finally decided who will be the official Santa Claus of the city for 2019.
The deadline for those interested in submitting an application to become the northern Greek city's Santa, embodying its 2019 holiday programme, expired this Tuesday. Over seventy citizens, both men and women, had applied online as part of the municipality’s campaign to find the city’s Santa Claus for this Christmas season.
The applicant for the dream job had to send their curriculum vitae, photos and had to undergo severs interviews so the casting directors could determine whether they were appropriate for the important role.
The casting team had the important job to assess how much the applicants loved Christmas and whether they meet the requirements for the challenging role of Santa Claus, or Agios Vasilis, as he is known in Greece.
Thessaloniki Municipality announced that this year a surprisingly large number of the candidates for the position were actually women, while the candidates’ ages ranged all the way between 30 and 60.
