Spanish couple – bloggers, writing on travel and experience, have visited Plovdiv in July during their tour around Bulgaria. Their visit to the city “under the hills” is due to the partnership between the Plovdiv Municipal Enterprise "Tourism" and the tourist office in Gabrovo. The guests have admitted that before coming to our country, they did not put their expectations high, but after visiting it they are fascinated by our people, culture, nature and history.
Their first article is already a fact and has the title "8 reasons to visit Bulgaria". In the mentioned article, Pilar and her companion are giving eight reasons why Spanish tourists should visit Bulgaria. The article starts with information regarding the fact that in 2019, Plovdiv will be the European Capital of Culture and because of the fact that the city is extremely well connected this is a wonderful occasion to visit it.
In the article there is a published link to the touristic page of Plovdiv – www.visitplovdiv.com. The bloggers mention Bulgaria's roses and lavender, delicious food, art and ancient history from Thracian times, monasteries and churches as well as the combination of cosmopolitanism, safety and affordable prices.
During their visit to Plovdiv, the bloggers have managed to see the Old Town and were particularly impressed by the Ancient Theater, the Clianty House and Nebet Tepe. They have spent their evening studying the streets of Kapana, and on the next day they have walked around the temples of the city. As a continuation of their partnership with the Tourism OP team, the Spaniards have revealed that their next article will include a detailed description of their trip to Bulgaria, and in autumn they will prepare another article especially for Plovdiv – European Capital of Culture 2019. By taking a photo in front of the letters "Plovdiv 2019" on the stairs of Kamenitza on the main street, they have shared their impressions of the successful logo of the project.
According to the information provided by the Tourism OP during the first six months of 2017, there is an increased interest by Spanish tourists in Plovdiv as a destination.
